Background: 1967 CJ6 134 F with vac wipers. Jeep was purchased not running. Proceeded to load the parts cannon and fire , (ignition components, solex carb, etc.) Cheap (25 bucks) single action fuel pump included. My son and i spent the weekend installing these items and got it running by bottle feeding it fuel. then we switched to the gravity method and took it for a ride. Tried installing a homemade spacer thinking the arm on the single action pump was too long to engage the cam lobe , no luck. i was able to operate the pump by hand and have it suck fuel from the tank and squirt it out. The pump in question is not the glass top one everyone has so many issues with. Am i missing something ? I'm currently trying to do this on a shoestring budget, new pump is not out of the question, but I'm not in the mood to spend $100+ on a double action at this time. I will add the existing double action pump had a weld added to the laminated arm where it looked like the cam rode. I will take pictures of the original pump and the replacement this afternoon and update.
