For those of you with a mid to late 70 through 71 CJ5 with the V6. After almost a year of working with Jon Waldron at Waldron's Exhaust, we finally have a correct original exhaust!

I sent Jon my 100% original exhaust last year so that he could start reproducing a CORRECT exhaust for those of us in the one year only exhaust club. Since he was able to use my original exhaust as the template, I am happy to report that it is a perfect fit for anyone looking to retain or go back to an original exhaust setup on your CJ5.

The below pics are of my original exhaust that I sent to Jon to start reproducing including screen shots of the R3 parts manual that show I have the correct muffler (he said did not exist).

Thank you sir. Yes it is a full blown nut and bolt Museum restoration to the day it rolled off the assembly line. Roughly 85% of the parts are NOS all the way down to an NOS engine that was still in the original box wrapped in cosmoline. All others are original that have been either cleaned and put back on or completely rebuilt. All of the factory spot welds, booger welds and waves in the metal were retained for authenticity. Roughly 3.5 year project that should be finished and its first car show on May 6th.

Very nice. Excellent work. Will that exhaust be for sale through Waldrons?

Yes. It is my understanding that Jon will be making this one year exhaust available to everyone shortly. (was part of the deal we made)

Cool. Wondering if I could buy individual pieces that could e used on my '66. Thinking everything from the manifolds to the muffler would be the same for all years. Just a guess.

It is my understanding that there are some differences even up front as the mufflers are different part numbers for the non rear mount tank setups. I do not believe that Waldron's will be offering individual pieces for sale only as a kit.

I'm glad they finally got it right! I purchased my kit about 10 years ago, and the tail pipe required cutting and welding on that section aft of the muffler and above the axle.
Their muffler didn't last long; the inlet pipe became loose in the muffler housing.
This one from Rock Auto is still going strong.

I think this other one might be an option if you want an oval cross section.
