Serendipity... Been thinking about an extinguisher and looking for a good candidate for my Wagon. Location is key. As is a sturdy but easily accessed mount.
Some good information here, hope more folks chime in on types, brands, etc.

I think the two bottle system makes sense. One at hand for an under dash or in cab fire that is not gonna kill you as you and yours evacuate. Then a big mama to contain the drama.

Halons work good but don't breath them in !!

    Halon trivia.
Fire needs fuel, oxygen and heat. If you removed one of those you would extinguish a fire, that's what we used to think were the only ways to extinguish a fire. Halon works but not by removing fuel, oxygen or heat. It's actually a chemical reaction with the fire that puts it out. I know, not what you were taught in school. The fourth dimension in fire suppression, it actually breaks the chemical chain reaction of fire. It's hard to grasp because we were never taught it, I had a class in aircraft fire suppression and that's where I picked this up at. Your useless information for the day.

Exactly right. As a retired firefighter, I had that drilled into my head for more years than I care to say.
