I have a 59 cj5 with the f134 doesn't get driven much. Kinda a nice weather toy and today it's 104 degrees so I'm done for today but I had some questions on it. Seems to smoke blue more than I remember. I've owned it about 10 years

Today I did a compression test #1=155 psi #2=150 #3=150 #4=150 psi I think those numbers are OK. I changed the plugs all seemed like new plugs but black. Changed them with autolite 295 gapped at 030. Replaced intake valve seals this am. The ones I removed were chewed up bad but the replacements I received were a different shape altogether. Kaiserwillys.com sold me orings but what I removed were more a tube shaped rubber. All seemed really old. Did I get the wrong Valve seals? Adjusted intake when done to .018 using YouTube video I found talking about opposing valve method.

When done I started and ran it but didn't leave the driveway. Still smoking blue quite a bit. Smoke may clear up after driving maybe. Probably should seafoam it? Still idled a little rough but not bad. And noticed if I turn mixture screw all the way in it doesn't die. Should it? Seems to run best with mixture all the way in.

Any help appreciated. What's your thoughts?

When was the last time the oil was changed? These are famous for dumping fuel when starting that finds it's way down into the crankcase past the pistons. If the oil smells at all of fuel, change it and see if that helps. Seafoam probably never hurts but rarely does anything positive either.

I'd be very happy with those compression numbers.

My '56 smokes a lot, and burns oil but no other symptoms, so I suspect it is worn valve guides. I live with it. "Upper Cylinder Lube!"

Do you have the double-acting fuel/vacuum pump? If this smoke is a recent development, possibly crankcase oil is being pulled through a bad vacuum pump diaphragm or seal. You could try disconnecting the line to the intake manifold.

I usually change at start of each year due to low miles driven. So I believe I did it about 3 months ago. I just checked color is little dark not bad and a slight smell of fuel not much. I will probably pick up a filter and change the oil because it doesn't hurt.

I know your right! There's no question about that. But I have an excuse my gmc sierra denali has air conditioning and it's been around 100 degrees average for the last couple weeks. That and between the 48 cj2a L134 the 63 willys truck with 230 ohc and 59 cj5 with F134 my nice weather vehicles further divide my time. All good driving condition but I can only drive one at a time

Yes it has a glass bowl dual vacuum fuel pump. I believe it to be an original correct glass bowl. If I remember right I bought it NOS about 5 years ago. So probably not the right internals to handle the ethanol in the fuels. The vacuum section is connected to manifold and tee into the pcv system. But the other end to the wipers is just plugged since I don't have wipers installed. It makes sense and I should probably just plug it off on both sides of the pump so it doesn't do anything. Since I don't use it anyways

And no one said smoking is dangerous to your health---

Another thing to look at here is the PCV system. If that is non functional, you will get increased crankcase pressure pushing oil all sorts of places you don't want it, including the exhaust pipe.

Just for my own biased research….
    Do you use Rotella oil?
