The 2nd Gen

I traded some labor for this ol workhorse and revived it. The truck was strictly used for hauling a bulldozer and tractors for farm work. A gooseneck was still hooked up to it when I got it.

This was taken ~45 minutes after getting it running.


A few weeks ago my buddy Eric and I went to northern Louisiana and picked up a NV5600 truck and will be swapping almost everything over to this one since it's farm fresh. The leftover bits from my truck and the parts truck will be swapped into Eric's 1st Gen Dodge pickup.



The NV5600 should be in my truck by next Friday assuming the parts arrive on time. It'll also be getting Hydroboost to replace the finicky vacuum booster. I'm not a big dually guy so new wheels/tires are in my sights and it'll get a SRW swap. Eventually, I'll turn the P pump up. I despise "rolling coal" so it'll be strictly for more giddy up. I like the blue color so new paint is in the future.

 

I haven't really been taking many pictures of everything.

I had to swap the input gear on my transfer case and while I was taking it apart I found some carnage.

All cleaned up.


Ruh Roh.


Big ol mess. The synchro dogs were missing and the snap ring was all mangled up.


All ready to go (assuming I reassembled it correctly)


Replaced the evaporator and cleaned out the air box. Had to replace the clutch slave cylinder also.



Eric managed to get the 24v and my old transmission in his truck frame and got it running today. I drove to Birmingham and picked up an NP241D for his truck today also.



Slowly but surely it's getting there.
