    Zacly what I was thinking.
I'd be interested in it myself but I think my CJ is as built as it's going to get. Future efforts going towards the JC.

If that was $1k, I'd probably have one of you guys bring it out to Utah....also, it needs to be 20" longer.....if I were still living in Denver, I'd be hard pressed not to take a look and throw out a number. I think its only a matter of time before my frame is beyond repair - or lets says needs a complete body off rebuilt, at which point replacing the frame seems like a good way to go.
Also, as a side note, I think this is a good way to go for someone trying to build a FF project...obviously it would be a built FF for wheeling as opposed to a more authentic restoration or slight restomod, but I am impressed with Rich's set-up of FF on ecj5 frame with all the standard upgrades etc. Not sure if Scott or Wheelie is looking to go this route with their B projects, but this might fit in Rich's trailer for a ride back east?
IIRC, Matkins was made in Billings MT, and they guy who currently makes TDK frames in Moore, MT worked for Matkins....don't know if the details of the frames are the same or improved or whatnot.

I've tried to figure out if I could stuff that in the trailer on the way back. Been hawking that it's come down $200.
Hey Geoffrey think we could strap it on the roof of the rental? You said Amex gave you insurance on rentals...

Judging by the picture, that one is just butt-welded sections of tubing. The TDK frames we had in the shop were all mandrel bent single rails. So yes, much improved. I’d trust a single rail over some guy’s butt-welds on a frame.

So I had to look this up. Seems Matkins did make them out of box tube. There is somewhat of a compelling argument, but it may also be selling fluff too.
New at around $1400, I might be a buyer at half that tops..

I think the TDK frame rails (loose) would be the way to go. I would be fabbing all my own crossmembers and bumpers anyway, so just buy the rails. Mandrel bent, and maybe go CJ7 length for a flatty. Add 6" in the door, stretch the axles out front and rear, and go from 81" to 94" WB. And a CJ7 flares out in the rear, so you could have more room between the rails, and wider mounting for the rear end. Just thinking.
