Here's the big idea. If I put some hitch receivers on each rock slider, I could plug in cradled winch for recovery or rollover protection. So if I'm trying to pull my Jeep out of a ditch on a sketchy hill at an angle, I could hook the cradled winch to a tree over the hill and my main winch to another tree in front of me. When I'm off camber, the side winch would prevent me from flipping. Does this exist anywhere? I just had the idea 15 minutes ago, so there may be some large flaws that I'm overlooking.

Anchor points are good, but think about being alone trying to operate two winches and a jeep on a sketchy hill, also consider the cost and the weight of those items.

Well, you'd give up 2-3" of ground clearance under the rockers, so there's that.

it would be pretty awesome, thats for sure. and certainly a first. but i agree that you probably wouldn't want to try to run 2 winches simultaneously, not only because of having to actually run them both, but also just electrical load. i think if you had just 1 winch that you could move around that would probably be the best (recievers on front, rear, and both sides)

After considering what you guys said and thinking about it some more, this probably won't be worth it on the CJ, but I'm gonna try it when I build a crawler and I and have space to play around with batteries and alternators.

I wonder if for the weight load if a worst-case scenario side load, if a come along wouldn't make more sense, and wouldn't require a receiver hitch mount

I only see this feature on off-road recovery tow trucks. :ninja:

Using a come along is a pretty good idea and would work well on the CJ. I could pretty easily put a small recovery point either on the sliders or directly on the frame. That would give me a better option for rollovers too. I still might use the winch on a crawler when I can hack a hole in the side of the body without remorse, but I'm going to put some tow points on the sliders of frame on the CJ.
