This was my dad's toy - he bought it new after he retired. It's lifted 4" with air lockers, 4:56 gears, bumpers/rockers/winch. It's all setup to be flat-towed behind the motorhome they had.

My parents aged out of it and it sat in their TX garage for a few years before Dad gave it to me. We had just gotten off the road from our RV travels, our finances weren't great, and we needed a 2nd vehicle.

I drove it around our little MO town, mostly getting to where I needed to shoot photos for the newspaper I ran. I went four-wheeling a couple of times but didn't enjoy it much - the Jeep was really too big for the trails and we were plowing tree branches the entire time.

We left it behind when we moved to Tulsa a year ago. I didn't need a second vehicle, so we pushed it into the corner of our house so it would be out of the way of our renters.

I offered it to my son a while back. At first he didn't want it (they're in the middle of a big house project) but he later changed his mind.

The big handoff was this week. Photos from his friend that came along on the trip. They drove it from MO back to MI where it'll be a dune-runner again.

That is super cool, on to the third generation! This is how vehicles transition from mere transportation or toys to representations of the family legacy. I still have my grandpas VW buggy he built in 1981, and am also the third generation owner.
