There is also a Flatfender listed with an F-head. Buy them both and swap the engines. It's down here in Florida so that will give you something to do for the rest of the year.

Not an OEM military is it? Wish I could see the PTO.

If so, winch and PTO is worth more than the jeep.

    That crossed my mind.

As a side note, if it's an authentic USMC rig it should have limited slip diffs.

Not until the mid 60’s. They used the Jeeps that the Army ordered. It was not until they started ordering their own because they did not like the m151.

I wonder the same thing. My older brother had a really nice all original M38A1 with what looked like a factory installed L134. There was engine compartment components layout that suggested it was built that way..Water proof ign, cables, gas peddle linkage and so on.

It would be interesting to know if the factory actually did that or a civilian owner did it. Both engines would of course have the waterproof components.....the L-head in the M38 and the F-head in the A1.

The Turbo L-head I posted the other day with the progressive carb was in a m38a1. If I remember the story the f-134 failed and they put a surplus l-134 in. I don't know if "they" was the military or civilians but if you buy a surplus jeep it'll likely you can buy a surplus engine.
