Getting closer to trashing a couple dead cars, first is a '76? Olds Starfire. Anything worth saving besides the long block? Mounts, manifolds, pulleys, brackets? Second is about an '81 Ford single wheel one ton 4WD, I think it has some version of the T18 and a left side drop transfer case, not positive about the left hand part, any of it worth saving?

That should be the classic granny Ford T-18. A modern salvage yard gets $600 for one.
There should always be a market for 1T drive axles.

Forgot to mention the Ford has the "Twin Why Beam" front axle, so not much hope for it.

The rear in that 1 ton might be a dana 60. Still has value IMO. The 4 speed, if not a T18, might be the NP435. Look for an aluminum shift cover as the tell for a 435.

If its a 1 ton, it should be an F350 with a solid front axle. TTB fronts were in F250s and obviously f150s.

'80 -'86 is one of my favorite styles. What's wrong with it that you're trashing it? just curious.

I think early 80's F350s got the Dana 50 TTB.

It is a 350, and it does not have a solid front axle. The truck should have been a real animal, 460, 4wd, 4spd, 4.10's, LSD, but it was an absolute lemon from day one. The steering box and clutch were done at about 25K, the fuel system was a real problem, it washed the cylinders and started using oil. Rebuilt the engine and put it on propane at around 50K. Rolled over and was re-bodied. I drove it into the shed in maybe '98 with 60K miles, last time it ran. Does have a factory tach. Don't know anything about the Oldsmobile other than it has a 231.

We (dad) had an ‘85 F350 4x4, it was TTB. I believe the rear was a 10.25 Sterling. The trans could also be a T19. Do you know if it has a syncro or non-syncro 1st gear.

I'd keep everything off that engine...manifolds, pulleys, brackets etc.
If it's a manual, keep the bellhousing, clutch & flywheel.
The 80's Fords are getting popular, you could probably sell most everything off that truck.

Don't remember for sure if 1st is a syncro, like to say it was, was always an easy shifting trans. In about '88 I drove that truck 60 miles one way in a snowstorm one night, that was the farthest away from home that it ever went. The Olds is an automatic, were all the crankshafts in a 231 of that vintage drilled for a pilot shaft and bushing?

A fair number of the 75/‘76 Starfires came with a 5 speed manual, meaning they have a flywheel and clutch that are rare to find today. Save the whole oddfire 231. From ‘77-up, I believe they were even-fire. I expect the crank is drilled for a pilot bearing because they could have had a manual.
