What's a d300 worth? One that I'm looking at is a 1980 scout 300 that has Texas pattern.....it would mate directly to the 4:1 T18 I have withe the 3/4" d20 adapter. I'd probably like to go 4:1 years in the d300....
Potential usage would either be an intermediate cj6 (so already centered d44), or c101 Jeepster. Did the c101 come with offset d44 or centered? With longer 101 wb, could one run a center d300 output with offset d44 if needed? Last question....what were scout d44s rear pumpkin? Centered or offset?

1980 IH 300 - around here, 1000-1200 when you see one.
Jeepster came with D20s so centered rear axle.
    ScoutIIs rear axle centered.

    Texas pattern fetches a premium.
Make sure you get the output gear for the transmission or it's worthless. I don't know about converting one to 4:1, Nickmil?

according to Novak, there should be a 6spine transmission main shaft mounted gear (which is different than the standard round pattern d300s....

Instead of having a transmission mainshaft-mounted input gear like previous Dana's, the 300's input gear rides on its own, bearing mounted input shaft. This shaft (in factory dress) always has 23 female splines. The helical input gear itself is mounted on 30 splines.

The IH Scout version of the Dana 300, built only in 1980 - IH's last year in the light truck market - has the same "backwards Texas" bolt pattern and transmission mounted input gear as did the Dana 20 found in previous IH vehicles.

The dead giveaway to be a Texas 300 is that there is no bottom bolt hole in the texas pattern. Super easy to spot. Yes you do need an input gear or it is a doorstop.

How come nobody asked me? Hell, i could even toss in the 465 it's connected to...
FWIW I saw a couple on fleabay recently; the one with the bull gear was somewhere around 1200?
Only thing I might keep is the speedo gear, IF it fits the Jeep version. It's perfectly sync'd to 31" tires and 3.54 RnPs

Because you want a lot of money for yours and you are not an hour down the road from me . Now, if you can get it to RFTH, we can chat. The one I posted has been for sale for over a year and the price has come way down....but it might not have the main shaft bull gear which is a deal killer. Novak indicates the speedo gear set up is different between 1980 and the later years....

Is anyone near you heading to RFTH that could transport the item (with or without the behemoth in the front - although I think taking that monstrosity off your hands is part the price).

    It's complicated...
We have it on the schedule to go depending on availability of house critter sitters. And depending on finding a shop to do the swap it might be showing up as part of the running chassis of my Wagon or wrapped up with a bow.
There actually is someone close by heading up so if I get the swap done and don't show, there's that possibility.
Regardless, as much as I'd love to dump mine, if it were me I'd still jump on whatever comes down the road first just to have my bases covered.
And BTW, there's the "AA30" adapter between the 300 and the 465... ?
If you'd like, I can text a few pics. LMK.
