Moser did mine 24 years ago; it’s still going strong in my 3b.

The 4:1 is pretty versatile in my opinion with a gearing spread that I really like. Most likely spot is in the CJ with a D18. But as I like the gearing spread so much, I have thought about it in other scenarios such as in the 58....and then I would want to move away from the D18/OD, and ideas like a D20 or even a TX d300. In anything longer than the CJ, it can be run as is....I even think it can be run as is in the CJ with AA adapter. Longer than the short input mount, but with the low output D18 and use of the short rear bearing cap, it's not that bad.

    I see.
My interest normally leans toward the wide ratio T18.
At least when mating to a D18 because the WR typically provides better off road gear selections.
But currently I am building a bit more of a daily driver.
    An onroad cj3 with 3.73’s and a D20.
Running gear is now complete and currently building a tub for it.
Right now it has a WR T18 installed.
Because the D20 has no decent option for overdrive I feel the close ratio T18 may be a better choice.
When driving up steep windy mountain hiways the close ratio gearing would come into full use.
The way I see it the D18 has no need for close ratio transmission if it has an overdrive.
