After looking at the cj7 eng swap thread, I would like to make sure I'm on the right track. My 75 cj5 came with a 304 V8, and it is ummm JUNK! I have been looking for a few months for used engines and 258s seem to keep poping up and for cheap. With that in mind, would a 258 (with mounts) out of a CJ drop right into my jeep? I have both a T-14 and a T-15, would I have to swap to the T-14 vs. the T-15 so I could use the same drive shafts? Any and all help would be great.

    Thanks

I doubt the 304 and the 258 are the same length, so it's doubtful that the driveshaft lengths will work. It could happen though. Motor mounts will most certainly be diferent also. Why not rebuild the 304 and save yourself a lot of headaches? They can be a pretty decent engine in a CJ. Try http://www.novak-adapt.com/ for info. Also try Advance Adapters.
