    DJ to CJ

Anyone out there with experience switching a RH drive to LH drive? If you could get your hands on a 74 DJ 2WD, straight 6, auto that doesn't run and needs a trany but you have a good motor, 3 speed manual, transfer case and axles from a 73 Commando that all work fine, whats involved? Probably need a cross member for the transfer case and my 73 spring location on the axles may not be in the right place, but what concerns me is switching the steering from RH to LH. Are the frame's stamped the same so I just have to use my 73 steering set up and modify the fire wall? Any help is much appreciated.

IIRC, a pretty straight forward swap.

DJ5s came in both RHD and LHD, and the frames were the same. Not sure if the box was Saginaw or not- I think they used them on some, but they would be the 3 bolt style. (That shouldn't be a problem, either, as I think your C104 would have a three bolt as wall, and even if it was 4 bolt, the other three should line up)

When Fourwheeler was doing their "Jeep For Cheap" project, they had a sidebar on going LHD, and the hardest part was modifying the tub for the steering column, IIRC.

Thanks, that was my biggest concern , also had some thoughts about gas, brake and clutch pedals and switching them over but I'm sure it can be/has been done. Hard to find a solid frame for my old Commando much less a solid tub, this DJ seems to have both.
