A little OT but it is on my 68 CJ5.

Okay, the axle is not from an Early CJ but I am getting desperate. Anyone able to help me out with this? This axle is from my 79 CJ7.

I need to find a replacement bearing for my axle. 30 Front from 1979 Jeep CJ7. Right side the bearing from the bottom of the hub cup to the spindle.

Part number Torrington Y-246, changed to part number B-246 which was discontinued in 1996. I have tried local suppliers, INA and Timkin, and sent a few web queries to other companies. No one can find this bearing.

    Sizes
    Bore 1.5"
    OD 1.875"
    Width 3/8"

Torrington does stock one that is 1/2 wide, but will that work? It is 1/8" too wide. B248.

Sureley there is a source out there for this bearing. I guess it is difficult because this had Quadratrac and PO added Warn hubs to front and part time to Xfer case. So maybe that is why I am having trouble.

Anyone have an idea on a source to get this? Or will that bearing that is 1/8" larger work?

don't know why you are having difficulty
standard spindle bearing, no diff between Q-trac or part time
used on D44s FSJ models also
I believe 1972-1986 CJ D30 would be the year ranges for this bearing
the Jeep p/n is J8127356, includes bearing, seal and washer
try 4wd.com or any other Jeep supplier

No it goes inbetween the Warn hub housing and the spindle. Already replaced the other bearings Inside the spindle.

If this is not part of the original spindle as in under the lock washers and nuts, call Warn, cause this is not part of the factory spindle.

I did call Warn. I was told that they sell no serviceable parts on Hubs. Nada. They could not recommend anyone as a source for this part.

I guess its hard because it was not original part. PO added part time hubs (Warn) I guess that these were done in the past for the Quadratrac xfer case to eliminate full time 4wd.

Got it done. I ended up using the old ones. Had to crawl around on the floor with a magnet until I found all the old pins. Luckily found them all.

This bearing does not have an inner race to keep the pins in. It is part of the locking hub that connects the locking hub to the spindle. I can provide pics if anyone is interested.

just an update that might help someone.
Herm told me he has a replacement bearing for the Torrington Y-246 bearing used in Warn locking hubs, early design.
    Cost as of today: $7.00 ea, 2 x $7.00 = $14.00 + $6.00 shipping.
    FYI
