Solex fuel pressure spec?

I know the stock Carter WO doesn't like too much fuel pressure, but is there a spec for the Solex replacement? I would like to run a standard 12vdc electric fuel pump, usually good for 5-9psi, but I'm not sure if that's too much for the Solex that's in the mail...

You'll need a fuel pressure regulator. Solex recommends around 2 psi.

Has anyone had any luck with those inexpensive dial-type regulators from NAPA (or another parts house)? I have seen them with something like 5 settings from 1-5psi, but don't have any idea if they actually work as advertised :?

That's what I use, they're name brand, not really cheap. Maybe $15?

I guess "cheap" is a relative term... I was comparing them to the fuel pressure regulators from Summit or Jegs that run in the hundreds of $$. I just didn't know if it was a situation of getting what you pay for, or if the ones from Summit/Jegs are extreme overkill for racing only?

I also use the standard fuel pump, not electric so I can only assume they would be ok for that too, especially if it wasn't some high performance/high pressure type.

Used one for several years on a Solex in a 3B as described (12 V fuel pump) with no problems.

I use an electric fuel pump. I use one that's 1~3 psi. Don't use a regulator.
I've been driving it that way for 2+ years w/ no problems.
