I found a cj5 d30 with disks in the junkyard today no way of knowing what year as there was not much left for id. What year did they changeover to disks on cj5. Also how much wider is the 30 than the 27.I also am looking for 11" brakes to do the conversion ,this is how this all started what is the year range for 11" brakes and what year wagoneer backing plates will work I keep reading earlier wags but know year range. I found an 80 cj7 will these drums work on my 65 dana 44. I scored a complete steering set up off the cj7 and a set of hanging pedels. Any help would be appreciated. I did a search but could not find exact answers.
    Thanks Steve

Some late '76 model years but primarily '77 and newer. If it has 6 bolt locking hubs and thick (1 1/8") rotors then should be up to '79. If Thin rotors (1 1/16") rotors and 6 bolt hubs then should be '80-'81 or thereabouts. If 5 bolt locking hubs then should be '81 or thereabouts and newer. The narrow track 30 (up to '81-'82) was about 3/4" on each side wider than a CJ 25 or 27. The wide track (late '82 or later) was something like 2" or thereabouts per side wider. Do a search if you haven't already on Dana 30's on this site. Bunch of info on them. Better off with the discs than the drums, but with the right parts drums work well. The '80 CJ-7 AMC 20 rear backing plates will not work on your 44. Bolt pattern is wrong and off set is also. The drums will however work. Look for '74-'75 and older Wagoneer with 5 bolt wheels for the 11" brakes. They are getting harder to come by, but are still out there. If you can't find what you need R&P at 503-557-8911 Sells complete kits with all new parts. By the way, my years above might be off a little, going by memory, but should be close. Nickmil.
