Oh, yeah! 1816's will be MUCH brighter! Like 3 candlepower instead the original what? 1? At .33 ampere draw, maybe they'll bake it out faster!!! Wish I could help ya figure this out........

What was the weather like where you are when you took it apart and put it back together?

Did you do it in a damp garage or in the warm dry house then back out to cold wet?

    Are you using your heater?

The weather's been chilly here. Since I had to paint up the gauge needles, I took it inside (~68*) to paint. Installed it all in the Jeep & ran it a day or 2 later. The speedo cluster is so clean you could eat off it....yet the glass still foggs up. Blasted!

Sometimes I run the heater. It fogged up over the summer the same dang way even when the heater was off. :(

It fogged up in the summer?

    Wow, that's officially weird!

I asked about your heater because I've had heater cores develop pin hole leaks that ratcheted up the moisture under the dash, then the rest of the vehicle rather quickly. I was wondering if maybe your speedo was getting warm moist air forced into it by a hole/loose connection in you heater duct work and a pin hole in your heater core. Does the vehicle have A/C? That would make the glass cool.

Nope, no A/C. I'll try to get a pic here in a couple days. I currently have part of the x-fer case apart. :)
