Ok, I have checked for vacuum leaks and there are none that I can find. Check for leaks at the base of the carb and everything there seems fine. I have tried choking the carb with my hand to clear things out and still did not work for me. Like I said when I would back the idle screw out it would be fine for maybe a day and then the idle would continue to increase. Now I have nothing left on the ilde screw and it is at high idle again. When it first starts, it idles fine but once the engine gets up to temp this thing is almost screaming compared to what it should be at idle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Push on the linkage to be sure it is seating all the way down on the throttle stop screw. The linkage could be binding.

    Spring missing?
    Spring in the wrong place?
    Wrong spring?
    Something interfering with linkage?
Can you slow it down by pulling back on linkage?
How did you check for vac. leaks?

Is the dashpot adjusted correctly it should stop the throttle from slaming shut by slowing it down in the last 1/4" to 1/2".

What about idle advance on the choke? I had a heat operated choke, so yours might be different, but it would always stick at high idle, and if I pushed it back down it would work for a while and then just do it again. Just a thought.

sounds like linkage biding or the wrong spring. if you remove the spring, what is the idle rpm?
