I will soon be rebuilding my 'ol ross. Are the V6 parts guts interchangeable? Bearings the same? Parts suppliers? I know not to go JC Whitney

With an F-head box I'm guessing.

I believe there are many differences, Pilot Bearings, Shaft Diameters etc.

Check out the Novak Website for more details. They can also help you out with any adapters you may need.

No, the F-head and the V-6 ross box parts do not interchange.

Well, not completely true. I just put my V6 Ross box back together. I use the bearings from a 4 cyl rebuild kit. They are the same and shims are the same. I used clear silicone in place of the gasket.

Sector shaft and related parts are suppose to be different.

Maybe the whole thing will blow up on me, but it worked while sitting on me work bench:rofl: . Krage has the kits, but as a disclaimer they too said that there were no interchangable parts between the 4 cyl and the V6 Ross box except for some brass bushings and an oil seal.

There is a guy on ebay who sells NOS bearings for the Ross box (I would link but can't right now) I believe they are listed as v6 but either will work. they come with the curved contour races unlike the repro ones everyone is selling that come with a squared race. clear as mud right?

Most major mechanical parts will NOT interchange. Bearings, and the other 'small stuff' will most likely interchange.

The V-6 box is physically larger than the F-4 box; that is to accomodate the physically larger parts inside.

And if you are fooling around with the ross box, remember that there are differing steering tube lengths depending on what box you have. This is related to year of production and ross box model. So, a 1971 V-6 steering tube is a different length from a 1968 v-6 steering tube.

You really should know the embossed Ross steering box number before ordering parts. The part manuals will tell you lengths, and lacking that, Turner 4WD knows what part fits what box.
