    Turning circle CJ6 64
Could anybody please tell me how tight I can set the turning circle.
This is an ex South African army Jeep (assembled in South Africa)
I'm talking about the set screws on either side on the steering nuckle.
    Thanks
    Jay

Uh, until the tires rub? ;)

It's going to depend on your particular wheel/tire combination. Set them as tight as possible without the tires rubbing on the springs.

In my case, it means the turning radius of a blue bird bus...:(

Hmmm, shouldn't a '64 have Bendix or Rzeppa joint axle shafts? If so, you wouldn't want to make the turning radius too tight else they may fail on you.

Trust me...on a 6 you want all the radius you can get, even if it puts the joints at risk.

I can'te tell you how many times I've had to back and fill to get into a parking spot.

Now about that LWB you always brag about. R)

Best solution I've found after driving Linus is the D30, holy cow that thing turns sharp! Not that it's always an option but if it is go for it.

Way down the road a D30 may be an option. Right now I'm too Dutch...and spent all the $$ to rebuild the D27 not long enough ago..

Actually considering wheel spacers - my wheel/tire combination is most of the cause.

My '60 had spicer style... but I have a feeling that that Jeep had seen some serious offroad time.

Yeah probably. My '64 had bendix, and figgering that no one in their right mind would swap out spicers in favor of the Bendix type, I concluded that they were original to the Jeep. Hence my thoughts on Jay's '64. :)

Well judgeing by the bent spring hangers and 8 layers of mud and sand each in the remnants of the floors, I am going to say someone probably broke a bendix and replaced it with a spicer.
