I know I've read this somewhere but not able to find it in the archive. But I assume I heat the spindle and cool the bushing to get them together???

    1. How HOT and how LONG do I heat the spindle?

    2. Put the bushing in the freezer for how long?

    Anything else?

    Thanks!!!

Notice the reason for the new spindle below... Not sure how the PO did that.....

When I replaced my bushing a few months back, I didn't need to heat the spindle at all. Granted, mine was the old spindles, but I just left the bushings in the freezer overnight and they went in fairly easy with the small hammer and some wood. If you're livin' right, they may just fall in if the bushing shrunk enough in the freezer. :)

Thanks for the info Matt, I tried just freezing the Bushing but it still didn't seem to be enough, although I didn't try "wacking" it. I'll go put it back in the freezer and try again.

could polish w/emory paper as well. must have been lucky with mine as it came off easy. could also use a brass or copper hammer, or a 'dead blow' hammer too.
