I'm new to this site but not new to Jeeps. I stopped to look at a Jeep on the side of road for sale yesterday. It was a bone stock 65 Tuxedo Park CJ6 (column shift) it had a full hardtop and a rear pto. It had rust in the standard spots starting but not too bad. It has a f134 and was in good shape (bumper was staight and hadn't been hit anywhere) and it is all complete with the original hubcaps and a factory spotlight. My question is does anyone know anything about this model ie. how many were made in a CJ6 model and how desireable is this in the later Jeep world. I see most of the posts I read here are people with modified rigs, is this the place to find out more about this or is there another link someone can hook me up with. Thanks in advance

~ 450 Tuxedo Park CJ6's made, IIRC -- one of the rarest CJ variants made.

Not sure about the "desireable" part - it's not like there are scores of guys out there looking specifically for them. They suffer from two-fold ignorance -- most people, even some hard-core Jeep people, have no clue what a CJ6 is, nor what the Tuxedo Park package is.

So you'd have a very rare Jeep that no one would recognize as being rare.

So, Gary, how much were they asking for the Tux? There are folks that know (or think) the Tux is worth more, just look on Ebay when Tux items come up for sale. Awhile ago some Tux trim rings sold for (IIRC) around $200.

PS- were did you see this CJ-6

    Welcome Gary from Ohio.

You came to the right place. There's some info on the front page:
(Title should read "IV" instead of "VI", lol)

The uniqueness of that Jeep makes it highly collectible comparatively to other CJs. I'd love to know the serial # on her. Should be 8422 10xxx.

I think the message here is, "buy it if you can". If you kept it you'd have a rare treasure, or you should be able to turn it for a profit at the very least. Maybe a big profit if you cleaned it up a little.

It sounds like it would be a great jeep to restore. I know if I saw one like that in East Texas, and the price was right, (under $2,000.00 ) it would be in my shop!

I suggest you buy it and try to restore it to as close as to what it looked like when it was new.

Wow, I found the right spot. You guys sound like this is of interest. I'll tell you what I know. The Jeep had a straight stock bumper, (not chrome) regular seats in good shape with the tool box under the pass. seat, factory installed spotlight, rear pto two speed, (turned fine) nice metal top, no cushions on the rear fenders, 53xxx on the odd., original paint, spare on the side, jack, heater with controls, above all the Jeep inscriptions was a GP bolt on, the engine compartment was complete and untouched, (f134) column shift. overall I thought this was a complete and unmolested jeep. I don't know a lot about the cj5 or 6 but I do know the 2a's. I don't want to pump anyone up too much here as it has some rust issues that I didn't investigate to any degree (the 2a's I look at always have LOTS of rust issues) Any way the asking price was $2500. That sounded high as I was looking at it. I didn't talk to the owner or here it run, but I have seen it in different spots in his yard so it must run and drive (has 2005 lisc.) I don't have a camera but I may be able to bourogh one and post some pics. I also have lots of historic Jeep projects at this time and my wife would make me sleep in it if I drove it home, plus I am financially chalanged. This Jeep is located south of Grand rapids MN. I'm in Brainerd about 1.5 hrs away, but the fun is in the hunt and the haggle. I'll find his bottom $ and post it here (if I don't want to sleep in it). Thanks guys for your info. I'll keep you posted

Went to look again at it but it was gone, maybe they used it hunting or it's a lost cause. I'll be going by there sometime this week, maybe I'll see it again. Thanks for all your input Gary.

I went by this today and they moved it to town. I got the VIN # 8605 10202. It also had a trailer attatched that had a screw type PTO driven log splitter in great shape! I have looked thru the serial # thread to no avail. Can anyone shed some light here?

Yeah, a log splitter, spiral type. This thing looks like new! Hey only in MN. There is a sign on the side of the top that says "Willow Lake Lodge" I guess I can see the "lodgic" in a wood splitter! Anyway it has front lock-outs just like in the other sites I've seen. The front bumper is not chrome but absolutley straight, but has the crome hubcaps? Must have been custom ordered for the resort?

Awww, dang I thought we had a Tux on our hands. :(

But it's still an epic Jeep. :) And a log splitter? Yes I caught the joke about the "log-gic" of it all. R) Go get it and bring it home!

If it is a tuxedo park it ought to have an indent or recessed portion to the dashboard just above the steering column.

The 65's had four cylinder engines, and they had column shifts, so even if the column shift had been removed adn / or the engine swapped, most likely the dash was not swapped out. So the vestigal recess for the shifter to pass through should still be there.

This thing is a column shift, and It has a "GP" above all the Jeep inscriptions on the body. I'm not a CJ5 guy, but I have a few historic Jeeps and I believe this is the real thing. I Don't Know where you get the #'s for this but Bubba didn't do this one.
