Talking with Sparky last night on ICQ for a little while and he suggested trying to tighten up the screws on the ends of the drag link to help resolve some of my steering wheel play. A few months back I replaced the bell crank and a couple of tierod ends. I also put new springs and backing plate disk things on both ends of the drag link. I used a flat head screw driver to tighten everything as I did not know there was a special socket I could have used. So, I'm thinking I should try to tighten it up a little more using the proper tool, but I'm not sure what size it is supposed to be. The local Autoparts store wants about $10/socket and I'm not willing to buy different sizes just to use the tool for about 30 seconds.

So, to the point, what size (or where do I measure) are the ends of a drag link on a 1953 M38a1 Ross setup?

I was in the same situation not knowing what size I needed. I asked the parts guy if I could buy both and return the one that I did not need and they were OK with that. Might want to ask.

Just pull the cotter pin and remove the adjustment plug and take it with you, then reassemble after greasing and snug it down.
