bending rear gas tank skid plate

Hi,

I am doing a rear tank conversion on my 1968 cj5 today and cannot figure out how to bend the skid plate to bolt into the frame rails. Does anybody have some tips on doing this?

Cardboard pattern like you want. Once you got it like you want it brush fiberglass resin on it let it dry and take to local sheet metal shop and let them bend it up. Or buy yourself a brake and shear and get to work.

 

If you lived closer i could take it to work with me and make whatever you needed....

 

could cut the and weld the plate insteed of having one bent, could save a little in the over all cost of your build, jason.

 

Thanks guys for your help! I was able to have me and dad sit on it and bounce and it bent it that 2 inches. I completed the installation except for running fuel lines to the motor.

 

Just out of curiosity, what year tank and how many gallons? I am fixing to do that to mine.

 

78 and up cj5 and cj7.15 gallons. you will need the skidplate to help mount it in.
