Do the brake lights require the turn signal switch to work properly, or is there a way I can get them to work WITHOUT the turn signal switch.

The brake lights get their power from the turn signal switch, so if you do away with the turn signals, you'll need to power them some other way.

Prolly a good idea to put a fuse in the line also, since the factory didn't see fit to do that. ;)

...just looked at pics of your Jeep, and I'd say that you'd have to find a way to integrate brake lights with turn signal & taillights UNLESS you attached 2 additional lights to the rear of your Jeep...then you could run turn signals in the back separately, then just worry about integrating brake lights with the taillights. Clear as mud? :D

to get the brake lights without the turn signals just find where the "sensor" is and replace the 12V inlet from the turn signals with a 12V inlet from a fused source. you'll have the brake lights but no turn signals then...

just out of curiosity though, any specific reason you want brakes but not turns?? it might be prying, but you've got my interests. i've wired up a coupla jeeps and would be willing to help ya out if you've got some issues with your wiring... local to boot

Well I currently have the turn signals working, with the column mounted switch w/ integrated flaster. Problem is, I can't remember when I actually used the turn signals, and with my long legs the stupid clamp hits my knee all the time. So I just figured remove em. Brake lights are a must though! :)
