On the ECJ5/M38a1, was there a valve of any kind on the dash to turn the wipers off and on, or was this strictly controlled by the big chrome "BB" on the wiper motors themselves?

On my '62, just the "BB". Vacuum hose comes straight from the fuel pump, through fire wall, then dash, then up left side of windshield post (held on by clips) and finally to vacuum motor. There is about an extra foot of hose to allow windshield to fold down. I've since replaced the vacuum motor with electric using the hose as a conduit - just cut and capped the end near the fuel pump, pulled the hose back through firewall and rerouted to remote switch. Electric - :)

I have two Trico wiper motors on hand that I plan on sending to www.wiperman.com to be rebuilt, and then I've got a really cool trick up my sleeve on how to power them (more about that later ;)).

Sheesh, I ain't THAT much of a hack! R)

What I plan on doing is driving the vacuum wipers off of the vacuum pump on the OM616. Hey, I'm not planning on running power brakes, cruise, or AC, so it'll be up there all by it's lonesome with nothing else to do 'cept operate the engine shutdown!

    Ditto to mb82.

M38A1 has a valve mounted on the lower left windshield frame, just to the left of the steering wheel rim. A kinda rotary on/off lever.
