Attached are a few pictures of my tachometer upgrade that I've been working on for the last few months. I couldn't be happier with the results.

The tach is a new electronic tach that has been modified with the "old school" face and the cup is from an outfit called Isspro, mainly noted for marine electronics. I was going to drill a couple of small holes into the steering column for mounting, but I figured out a way to mount the tach with a hose clamp where the screw is actually enclosed in the mount itself. That will allow me to reposition if necessary.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe one. Relax, chill out, and give thanks for all your blessings........God Bless !

    That looks really, really nice.

I have a question, though as I'm currently re-thinking SSDutch's dash. The PO did a saggy conversion and the steering column comes through the dash using the same mount you have. But it's crooked as he didn't get the mount positioned correctly. It has to move outboard in order to straighten up the wheel.

In your pics though, there's more room between that column mount and the speedometer than I was expecting - enough to mount a couple of gauges.

I'm currently using another early dash, so if the speedo location is the same then I don't have the column mount right, which if it ends up more like yours changes my approach to extra gauge mounting.

    So here's what I wonder:

    - Is the speedometer location consistent between early CJ's and intermediates?

    - Can I get measurements (from any intermediate owner) from the outside (driver's) edge of the dash, both to the steering column mount and to the speedometer?

    I'd appreciate it....

Measurement from black steering column housing to drivers edge of dash is 10 inches.

From drivers edge of dash to speedometer is 20.5". This was not exactly a straight measurement due to column in the way of shooting directly from closest point of speedo to edge. Should be within .25 inch though.

also..distance between closest edge of speedo and far right of column housing is 5.5 "

    Hope this helps !

    Thank ya sir!

Speedo location is the same. If I pull my steering over that far I think the wheel will be crooked the other way, as there's currently 13" between the column bracket and and dash edge. The wheel is ~2" right of center.
