windshield clamps

    i would like to remove these
    can wire brush them clean.
    are the 3 upper bolts turned into
    captive machined nuts?
    and is the bottom bracket screw
    also machined and turned into a captive nut?
    or, are they all into loose nuts behind?

    iowa, if I remember correctly, the top three are captive nuts; no problem with removing latch and then reinstalling. The lower bracket with two nuts that go thru the dash, thread into a machined piece that is loose so that you have some adjustment on the windshield rake/tightness. You will need to "catch" that piece as you remove the second bolt.
