The points on my Jeep are shot. Its stranded in a parking lot right now and I am needing to find a replacement fast. I was wondering what my options would be at Auto Zone or the likes. I would probably just like to replace the old distributor with a new one but no one seems to stock anything for a 71. Are there any other Buicks that I could gets these parts from?

I'm guessing that you have a V6, Call all auto parts stores in your area, somebody should have a set. Buy 2 and keep the spare in your tool box. Buy a ignition file and dress up the point contacts, then readjust to get it running so you can get it home.

I wouldn't guess, I'd say he has a V6 by looking at his signature and he asked about other Buick engines. ;)

Yep, file the points, reset if you can, and drive it home.
After you get it home, consider a Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition kit for the Delco-style alternator, or an HEI from a 1975 through mid 77 Buick 231 V6.
Pertronix is an easy install, the HEI is a bit more involved, with some grinding req'd... either will make your V6 run more smoothly and reliably. Search here on this forum for alot more info... :)

There around 75 bucks from summit I am sure you can find them cheaper if you hunt around a bit.
They are worth every pennie also my dad has one in his 61 impala its been in there for four years now with no trouble always starts.
