Stock hub strengh

    I still have the stock hubs on my 72 CJ5 and was wondering how strong they really are?
    They are the kind with what looks like a huge slot for an enormous flat head screwdriver, and turn about 1/4 turn for lock/unlock.

    are they cutless I have one I broke one it can a part inside and broke.

    Sounds like you have either Cutlass or Dualmatic hubs, both of which were aftermarket add ons. They are ok but can be a pain to lock in sometimes if everything doesn't happen to be aligned right. I'd run them and if you have any issues then swap them out for some Warn Premiums. Nickmil.

    Im looked at them closely tonight when I got home from work and they are the Cutlass.
    They have been a pain to lock in/out at times.

    I also have the Cutlass hubs on my 74 Cj5 and they have also locked up on me. I am going to switch them out with the Warn ones
