I am trying to get a tire carrier for my Jeep. I haven't seen any bumper mounted carriers for any Jeep older than 1976. The only one I have seen is a factory style tire carrier for 1955 to 1975 CJ's. I included a picture of it. Does anyone know exactly where this is supposed to go?

Also, what is the big difference in rear bumpers between 1976 and newer to 1975 and older CJ's?

    Thanks for your help.

Thats a side-mount spare tire bracket.

76 Up had a wider rear frame then the intermediates and earlies. A bumper from a 76 will not work on them without some fabrication.

It's not that big of a deal to make one for a later model CJ fit. If you have a drill and a tap you can make new holes. I did with mine, it's the Currie rear bumper/tire carrier combo.
