I am thinking about getting rid of the 3 inch body lift the PO put on this and doing a spring over. I know I could buy lift springs, but I want to get rid of the "earth handles" the under axle spring perches create.

Any ideas, tips, tricks, or cautions are appreciated.

IMO SOA is not a good idea in these short vehicals, there is more to it then just welding springplates to the top of the axle. I don't have the link but I think Lynn put new spring plates on that were not as bad as the stock plates.

Not an easy or cheap lift, as you'll be spending loys of time and cash to fix all the problems associated with spring wrap that comes with a spring over(Such as drive line bind). If you go this rout you will also need to do a shackle reversal in the front, fab a traction bar for the rear axle, install a CV joint on the rear drive shaft, use anti-wrap spring perches and thats just for starters.

Better to buy a well engineered lift spring package and skid plate spring mounts. In the long run, it'll save LOTS of headaches.

What he said X2! And he didn't even mention all the steering linkage problems you'll have to overcome.

Thanks for th input fellas. Now I am off to read and follow jacksoncj5's post and glean all the info from there.

Thanks Chuck. I think the PO love diamond plate, or just messed the sheetmetal up and decided to cover it up.
