Do they use the same Tcase adapter? If so would one off a T18/D20 work for the T98/D18??

    Hi all,
One thing to watch for between the t18 and t98 adapters is diameter of the pilot register that indexes the adapters to the bore of the transfercases. I have a t98 adapter here made for the small hole Spicer 18 transfer case, I also have had t-18 adapters with a larger pilot for the late spicer 18s and dana 20 transfer cases. Also, even though the adapters may interchange somewhat, keep in mind that the mainshafts are different, since the t-98s use loose rollers under second gear and have a different size pilot diameter where they mate with the input shaft, if I remember correctly. If you are going to switch mainshafts between cases, I am pretty sure that the corresponding gear sets have to be switched as well. Hope this helps!

Good info and you're correct. You can put the T-98 guts in a T-18 case and vice/verse but you must change ALL the gears and shafts. Nickmil.

Heh, heh, heh, you've got a T-18 because the cases are the same for early T-18's and T-98's (Jeep applications). I've seen factory T-18's that had factory T-98 tops on them (earlier version with reverse over and towards the dash). Either that or it's a red-headed stepchildR) Nickmil.
