    FINALLY got the engine mounts welded in (only took a year) so I'm motivated again...

    However,, when trying to get the trans to mate w/the clutch i couldn't get it to mate. (yes, I did use a clutch alignment tool, so the clutch/friction disk is "centered" on the pressure plate and with the pilot bearning)
    In viewing the throwout bearing (when attached to the clutch fork), I noticed that the throwout bearing seems to off center/towards the left/towards the diction where the fork pivots on the ball studd.

    So i'm wondering if I have an incorrect clutch fork. Seems as if it was longer, it would align with the pilot bearning and the input shaft of the trans would mate right up. Anybody know the correct length of the clutch fork (dauntless 225 engine/t-90 trans)?

    BTW, I'm using my original t90. The donor engine and bell housing came as an assembly, but now I can't remember which trans it had (jon has it)...don't think it was a t90. Can't see how which trans would really matter as the input shaft on the trans still needs to "go in straight" into the pilot bushing.

    Jerry,

    Watch or measure the ID of the pilot brg. I wrestled with mine for 2 days before I finally pulled the bell and tried the fit. It was about .003" under the input shaft. Talk about pissed. I ordered another brg and at the same time a guy in our shop had an adjustable ream and fixed it.

    I'll see if I can measure the fork tonight but I won't be home until Sun. night. :stout:

    Gump,

    thanks for taking the length measurement..

    I did remove the throw out bearing then was able to get the input shaft of the trans to "fit" into the pilot bushing/mate the trans to the housing, so I know the pilot bushing is ok. It appears that the throwout bearing isn't centered because the fork isn't long enough (??)

    AHHHH! That might explain it! T-14 fork and throwout was in it, now we are using a converted T-90!

    Fork;

    Cable hole ctr to T.O. brg ctr = 4-5/8"
    length end to end = 5-1/2"

    Best I could do through the inspection hole. :stout:

    thanks for the measurements Gump! I'll check this again the one I have (with the broken spring clip). Not sure if this is an item I can pick up locally or if I have to order it special (ie. Herm, etc)

    Really appreciate you taking the time for me.

    I ordered one for a T14 from Kaiser Willy's Auto Supply. Pretty cheap too, IIRC.
