is there a bolt in replacement for our "stock" rear seat that will "fold/tumble"? i dont want to lose the rear seat but need the space at times... i have looked at several sites and have not found one.

are there any from other jeeps that will work in the intermediates?

    thanks in advance :flag:

"Not found one" meaning a bolt in replacement?

There are fold and tumbles that will fit (I have the Steelhorse version in SSDutch) but I don't think any of them bolt in using all the same holes, etc.

The Steelhorse has 3 brackets to mount -- two forward for the pivots, and one in the rear for the latch.

The pivots have cotter pins on them - pull the pins and you can pull the seat.

I had the seat mounts all incorporated into the rollcage, but most times they're just mounted to the floor. You can see them in this pic:

85 and 86 CJ came with them and YJs from 87 to 95 had them. You'll need seat, front brackets, side brackets, seatbelts, bolts, and to measure and drill a few holes. I have swapped one in a non fold jeep.

anyone know if the TJ and YJ rear seat is the same width... most of the seats i find are TJ seats but i am hearing conflicting info on the TJ's seat width

I've got a '95 YJ seat in the back of my '71 CJ-6 (Project Hatari!) and a stock '97 TJ. Both are sitting in my driveway since the guy who bought the CJ-6 still hasn't had it shipped. I'll measure both as soon as the rain lets up a bit here.

By the way, the YJ bolts right into the earlier Jeep using stock or Bestop brackets (I used the Bestop brackets that came with my YJ replacement rear bench). Or, if you're willing to spend money, the Bestop fold-and-tumble seat comes with all the hardware and mimics the stock YJ/CJ seat dimensions perfectly.

TJ rear seats are wider and won't fit from what I gathered. Also they just seem wider when you sit in them, it's pretty apparent.

I measured the distance between the pins on the seatback that lock into the brackets on the fenderwells. The YJ comes in at 34-1/2 and the TJ is an even 35-inches.

You may be able to lop 1/4-inch off of the locking pins on a TJ seat and make it fit, but I didn't measure the width of the seat cushions. It's a little hard while trying to hold a dripping cosmoline canvas tarp with one hand and a tape measurer with the other.

Bottom line, the YJ will definitely fit. The TJ may be asking for problems.

thanks for the reply guys... i will stick with a YJ/CJ since it will work for sure... just seems for the time being that all of the good deals that are finding me are TJ seats. :flag:

i have about 8 hours left till we fly out of here (A-stan)
