I'm getting ready to replace the springs on my CJ5. According to the book, the spring plate must be removed. Evidently one of the prior owners welded the right front spring plate to the frame. Is that going to cause me a major problem or is there a way to work around it?

    hmm
the spring plate would be on the bottom..what the u-bolts go through
the spring shackles are on the ends with the bushings
nothing should be welded to the body
the hangars are welded to the frame
    please clarify

    shouldn't affect spring replacement
if it broke, and he welded back up, it should be replaced now
    common item that does break
