I have read postings on forums about Bantam civilian Jeep trailers. Did such a trailer exist? or were thay old M100 trailers converted to look civilian. I have never actually seen one and currently have a M416 but would like to explore getting a "correct" match for my 58 CJ. If they did exist, what were some of the differences to the military trailers?

My science project BT3-C is shown in my avatar... I've taken some cues from the CJ-3B page, but really like the work and write-up on Boyinks site!! For me the biggest differences that pointed me in the direction of a civilian style vice military were tailgate and round fenders. CJ's and BT3-C's just seem right together, no matter what era.

I have pics too and also pics of the Spen trailer. The Spen was listed as the Willys approved trailer. They look almost identicle except the Spen had hubcaps a better tailgate hinge design and was rated 3/4 ton vs the 1/2 ton Bantam rating. I think Spen may have manufactured the Bantam bodies.
The Bantam was better looking though.
