Hey ive got a '69 CJ5 w/ a 225. I just put a new wiring harness in and everything works except the brake lights. Im not the the most knowledgeable when it comes to electrical, but ive got power to both the front and back brake switches, and ive tried different wiring sceams. Not really sure were to start, any advise?

Have you checked the switches to make sure they're working? When they're pressurized they go ahead and transfer current on to the lights?

    BTW, welcome from KS!

I suppose i could get new ones, they are only $7. but im a little confused i guess. Ive got a wire coming from my turn signal set up to one post on the the switches and then a switch power going to the other post on the switch. Not really sure how this can transfer current to the brake light. Is it through the fuse box??

We discussed wiring brakes a while back, it has to run through the turn signal switch so that when your brakes are on the brake doesn't cancel out the turn signal.

If I were you I'd try searching the forum and see what you find. It was in the last month or two that we talked about it.

Before you buy new switches you could check them with an ohm meter by touching the meter leads accross the terminals and having someone push on the brake pedal. If the switch is working....then recheck your wiring.
