I have a 1967 cj 5 and Im trying to get the heater rebuilt and running. I noticed that there isn't any vent tubing that runs from the grill intake to the heater core itself. How important is this tubing? I am very novice regarding this process. I noticed that after I removed the heater core box from the engine compartment firewall that the heater fan wouldn't work any more at the switch. Any sugestions? Im taking the heater core to a radiator shop to have a leak fixed. when i put it all back together is there anything that i should be careful of or concerned about? Thank you so much. any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Troy, and welcome from Ohio. I'll venture a guess or 2...

That fresh air intake hose can be gotten at J.C. Whitney (there are prolly other places as well). Many folks go without, like yours truly on 2 of 3 Jeeps. Having the hose ensures that the intake air is indeed fresh and not fumey air from the engine bay.

On the fan not working after removing the core box... The fan circuit may depend upon a very tight connection with the firewall for a good ground. To test, stick one end of a 12-gauge wire on a known good ground (or -batt terminal) and touch the other end on the metal fan shroud & then try the switch. HTH! :)
