Hey guys, I put out a wanted ad for 11 inch Jeep brakes in my local area. I got a response from someone who said they have a set in excellent condition. I'm guessing the backing plates, drums and all the guts. Other than the obvious way of telling brake size via a ruler, how can I tell if they are from a Jeep and the right ones I need? Factory stamp markings, serial numbers etc?

I don't wanna get taken if I can help it.

    TIA!

Harry, I think the bolt pattern for the backing plate is the key. Match that and then remember that the big brakes don't don't fit with a lot of more or less stock wheels. Whatever you gotta do, they are worth every dime as far as brakes go. Good luck!

Harry, one thing to watch out for is that the early trucks & wagons used 11" brakes but they wern't self adjusting, they have cams like the 9" ones. I bought a set not realizing what they were, total waste of money :(

IMHO these arn't a goood candidate for an upgrade, nothing on these is interchangeable with the later 70's style :(.

Here's a pic from my installation, the important thing is the 6 bolt circular pattern, also go to the forum section of this website for a list of donor vehicles and more pics. This one is from a CJ mid seventies vintage and is self-adjusting. Hope this helps. It is actually a front brake setup that is installed on the rear(I have an D18 Emerg brake that works good)
    P/ns I have are- Bendix 3201048R, 318447L

Have him send you a pic that you can post here we can help.
