from what i have heard msd 8.5mm plug wires are pretty good with heat 300* to 450* i think. having said, that i am using accel's.
just make sure that you get a set that matches your dist tower type and plug type. often times you get a kit of both dist ends. you cut to length and then mount the correct end from the two sets they give you.

speed shops will sometimes carry braided insulated covers for tubing and plug wires.

Joel I run the Accel Superstock spiral wire, 8mm universal fit wires in red, good wires, rated to 550*. Get them for a v8 application and have a couple of spares. I got my accel wires at autozone cheaper than Summit. Muffler wise I run thrush turbo mufflers. I would stay away from glass packs, they won't last long.

Unless you are really impaired (hearing wise) I would vote for a very quiet set of mufflers, given that there is very little rrom for tailpipes with headers and a :v6: The pipes behind the muffler really do tame the exhaust note, and glasspacks bolted directly to the headers are going to be really obnoxious IMHO. Really cool for a couple of days romping around town, and then just plain LOUD. BTDT.

You now have my $ .02 worth, YMMV.

  9. Mike, Are the accell wires universal wires the kind you assemble? I've done it before but I used a buddy's crimper and that's not possible, since he lives in Michigan now. :D

And John, the polish only adds $4 each, how can you resist? :D

Joel the wires I got were disassembled but came with there own crimping die. Took me about 20 minutes to make all 7 wires. All you need is a benchvise and a small hammer.

  11. I've got those! :D

What Steve said. Shorty turbos hanging off headers is uh, still pleasant. ;)

Glasspacks would be too loud for me, I'm getting old.

Jeepsterman I had a beer with Panzer.

I would vote down the glasspacks. The Jeepster had them when I got and they were a bit obnoxious.

The exhaust can be routed all the way out the back. I had that setup on Dutch with duallies and turbo mufflers. Had a tone to it but wasn't too loud.

i have pax on mine now (my dad bought them with the headders from jcw) and they are WAY too loud. @ 55 mph, there is no way i can hear my passenger let alone my cb or cell. i bought thrush turbo's for it, but have yet to install them. i am hoping for the sound of the 80's style race cars (when tac'ed up) but still streetable and not too loud it scares away everything within 5 miles.
