Does anyone have any experience with the strapless bikini top for the '75 and before CJ? Do they work well? do they hold up?Thanks-Fozzie

I just bought one for my '75. When it came, I opened the box, and found a regular old strap style bikini. I called the place I got it from, and they opened some other ones they had for the '75 and older jeeps, and they all were the same thing. Funny thing is the boxes and directions all said they were strapless. They later called me back and told me that it was a manufacturers mistake, and they did some research and no one is currently making a strapless top for the early CJ-5. I got them to exchange it for a strapless top for a 1976 on up CJ-5, and it works well, just a little short on either side since the later windshield frame is narrower. I do have a 1980 and newer style rollbar, but that shouldn't make too much of a difference.

Summer's here and I'm looking for a new bikini for my 74. Does one brand hold up better and do the highway "flap dance" less?

I know Bestop makes one, Whitco and Smitty/Outland. Any preferences ? Better quality? :? Thanks.

I think that is the same part # as the one I originally bought as described in the above post. If anyone had any different results, let us know.

I just bolted some sheet metal to the top of the cage. Works well! No flapping and I can still fold the windshield down. Also doesn't tear when I hit trees.

    LOL! R) Crazy, but effective.

BTW they can't check the product for me b/c it's in some warehouse. blah blah blah...   I don't know why I bother sometimes.

I might just try to order it and return if I have to, but last weeks pay check is already burned  so I'm gonna have to wait a couple more weeks.
