always thinking of the next project now that my tub is almost fixed. Has anyone used sound deadening to line the body? I seems like this would make the jeep quieter and warmer. The brands I've seen are (Dynamat, Fatmat & edead). Anyone with experience on which to use or why not to use it at all. Fiberglass body

I've used Dynamat before on other vehicles and it works great. I don't think I would use it on any of my ECJ's though because once you put it down, it is a pain to try to remove it.

I don't think I would use any on another ECJ5 either. I used other types of sound deadening in mine, and the only thing it seemed to accomplish was to trap moisture and dirt. Although with a glass tub, that may not be that big of an issue, and my installation was probably less than stellar. It also did not affect the noise level that much. Just my .02 cents.

I used some on the moneypit MH that I later sold. It wasn't a name brand, but something Joe (Project 71-5) pointed me to - much cheaper than the name brand stuff. It was a nice ashphalt layer with a self-stick backing.

But like already mentioned, not sure I'd use it inside the Jeep. I'd look at a spray on bedliner put on the bottom of the tub first.

I have used Dynamat before and liked it in cars, just not sure if it would help much in a CJ.

I used Durabac for a bedliner, both in the tub and on the underside. Can't say that it's really quieter. Still pretty dang loud when a rock hits the bottom of the tub.

Think of all the cool Jeep stuff you can buy with the money you save by not having a stereo.....

Try pages 3301-3302. Just type it into the search box on their website. I think Mike used the adhesive backed sheets on page 3302, supposed to be the same as Dynamat but without paying for the name. :)
