Brakes tightning up

I have a 1978 CJ5. Recently I have had a problem with my front brakes tightning up to the point where they would lock up. I have since then replaced the master cylinder, calipers and front brake hoses.

At this point, I am still having trouble with the brakes. They don't tighten up all the time. Sometimes they will tighten up to start with and sometimes I will use the brakes 50 times before they tighten up.....when they do I just pull over on the side of the road and let them sit for 10 or 15 minutes and then they will loosen up on their own.

Any suggestions for correction of this problem will be appreciated !!

 

Do you have disk brakes? Maybe you have a residual pressure valve for front drums that are keeping the disks from releasing.

 

If you disc setup is original there would not be a residual pressure valve in the system. is it only one side? If so most likely a bad rubber hose. They come apart inside and then it can act like a one way valve not letting the fluid drain back out of the caliper.

I do have disk brakes on the front. It use to pull to the left, but as I said in the first thread...to correct that I just went ahead and replaced the master cylinder, calipers and front brake hoses on both sides. Now it seems as though they both tighten up....?????

 

Ok opps I thought they started tightening after the new mastercylinder. Hmm I got no idea.

 

Did you make a change to the rod that comes off the pedal? That might not be releasing completely and the master might be keeping pressure on the lines
