Distributer collar gasket

Is this gasket the rubber O ring that's around the distributer shaft or a flat gasket that goes between the the distributer flush with the block? My HEI install instructions say " Be sure to reuse the dstributer collar gasket from your old dist or replace with a new one. I look at my old dist and also one from an extra motor I have. They all have the rubber O ring gasket only. :?

Can someone pls clarify what a collar gasket is.

There is an o-ring that goes in the groove around the distributor body, there is then a cardboard gasket that goes at the top of the flange where it seats against the timing cover hole.
