My front parking lights and turn signals have been bad for a couple of months. One had a good parking light but no turn signal. The other had a good turn signal but no parking light.

I decided run the problem down today. Cleaned all the connections and hooked it back up. Bingo, turn signals and parking lights work like champs.

Now my headlights won't work. They were fine before, and I have not touched 'em.

    Where's my multi-meter?

Must be something going around, like flue. I got it here as well. After two days, these wires are taking on the same colors! I think I need :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

As Jeeps age their supply of magical electric smoke deminshes and there's not enough to operate every device they are born with. Kind of like us isn't it?

:iagree: You'll get it chased down, but it'll be a pain in the butt. Good luck Russ :)

Well, that was too easy. Dirty connections on the dimmer switch. Funny that would manifest itself just when I had corrected the parking light and turn signal problems.

    Its  time.

listen to this one, picked up another cj-5. needed to fix the horn and wipers for inspection. day before yesterday...started with wipers. motor worked fine, the linkage just fell off, put it back together, bingo! horn. tested the horn straight off the battery and it worked fine. cut the old connector off, crimped on a new one. bingo! move on to the speedometer. wipers stopped working.motor wouldn't turn. two hours later i determine its just a bad ground. ran a negative straight to it and soldered it on the body. bingo! damn, now the horn won't work either. 1 hour later I find its because the speaker wire the guy originally wired it with was to small and fried. whats that mean? i moved it up to 14ga. speaker wire :). bingo! I am very well versed in AC wiring, but I don't like this whole dc grounding off the body thing. from now on I am wiring my cars like I wire my houses. two wires to everything. homerun from the battery
