Okay, I thought it would be a good idea to get a newer windshield frame for my 61 replica so I didn't have to use the top mounted (cheap) wipers. I went ahead and got a newer (1976-1986) windshield frame, all new arms, wiper motor, etc, and I go to put my soft doors on and DUH, top of the soft doors won't line up...OF COURSE, you say, my old windshield was almost straight up and down and now that I have a new windshield that is angled, my doors won't line up! My soft top will be okay since it adjusts for slack. It's just these damn doors won't fit (obviously).

So....do I have to get a whole new soft top & doors or can I just get new doors? OR...can I just get new TOP half of my doors???

FYI: The softop is for a 1955-1971 CJ5 by BestTop with the 2 piece doors.

Oh, and I will SOON have these soft doors for sale..LOL!

Thanks for listening to me vent.....

You need a '76+ top to work with your WS. I don't understand why you bought the wrong frame for the top you had, the WS frames from '68 on had bottom mount wipers and work with your top and doors.

So if the top's bad or worn, buy a new one for a '76+ CJ-5. Or sell the WS frame and buy the right one for your top. :)

I didn't buy the "wrong frame", I wanted a newer one so I could have the lower wipers. I do not like the top mounted ones. The CJ is a fiberglass tub...everything on it is from a 1983 CJ-5. But I hear what ur saying, if I'm gonna' have a 1961 Jeep, make the whole thing a 1961 Jeep. The top is brand new. I may just take your (good) advice and look for a new windshield frame! Since mine is brand new, maybe I can find someone who wants to swap! I was just hoping to be able to swap in newer style doors....I'm such a NOOB!

    Thanx

'72 to '75 frame would fit pre '71 Jeeps and have bottom wipers.

I have the fiberglass 1955-1975 CJ5 tub with the Bestop Softop (NOT Tigertop) and I have the 1976-1986 windshield frame.

From the link you provided (great write up) I can use the 1969-1975 frame and be okie dokie with my top & doors....am I on the right track?

**Side Note: I emailed Bestop Customer Support about my doors**
