Well i am finally getting my boggers for the jeep. i got a real good deal on a used sset. Well currently i have 7 inch wide stock waggie rims. i know that is too small for a 14.50 rim, but i am contemplating putting the boggers on a 8 inch wide rims since i have access to my old traielr rims and they are 8 wides. I know that is alot of tire on a rim that size. I did run 16 wide boggers on a 10 wide rim and that wasnt that bad at all. running a 14.50 on an 8 rim would be about the same. so who has done this? the jeep is mainly trail, sometimes i will drive to work or club meetings.

I think your problems will be twofold:

    1) 8" is too small for a 14.5" tire. They might mount up, but I think you would be asking for trouble on the trails.

    2) I don't think you could turn, unless you've swapped out for wide axles (I see you've got 44, how wide are they). On my stock D27, I couldn't turn the tires very far when my 33x12.50 were mounted on 8" rims with 3-1/2 backspace; they were hitting the springs in front. Had to swap out for 10" with 3-1/2" backspace.

On the trails, the skinnier rims are a bit better since they keep the bead on a bit better than say a wider rim when aired down.

Yeah i have wider axles for this. i have axles that are 61/60 inches wide. i do not come close to rubbing now, but that could change. :(

    Dan I'd run 10" rims.
Interco says a 12" rim for that size tire.
Ran 33x13.50x15 Swampers on a 10" rim and it looked/worked good.

Been running 35x14.50 Boggers on 8" rims for over 4 years now- no issues. Go for it.

i've run 39"x18" boggers on a 8" wagon wheels on a fsj with no problems, save for the shafts of the 44. followed by 42"x15" on the same rims. just run lower air pressure to get the tread flat on the road.
