First, thanks for the help already given on this subject.

However, I am having continued problems with my clutch and linkage on a '70 ren I 225 v6.

First the adjuster that connects to the throw-out bearing broke...I didn't know it was the adjuster and thought it was the cable as it had broken before. I ordered two cables(for a spare) to find out it was the ball on the adjuster that had broken. I then ordered an adjuster from mile high in Denver. The adjuster was a tiny bit larger, but the threads on the linkage cable matched correctly. After installation of adjuster and new cable I attempted to push the clutch in. It immediately tweaked the cable housing to the point of ruin. I thought maybe it was just a defective cable, so I installed the second cable...Same thing, ruined housing and cable. I know this is redundant, but I in stalled the original cable with the new adjuster and tweaked it too.

My question is, does anyone have any clue where my problem is? This is very frustrating and is starting to get expensive.

Do i need a new clutch? If so, where can I get a new heavy duty clutch kit?

You guys have been great in the past and napa and mile-high can't answer my questions.

    Thanks in advance!

and the clutch was operating normally before the adjusting ball broke ?
if so, then the only problem I see would have to be with the throw out fork
either it fell off the pivot, or the pivot has pushed/worn thru the recees in the fork where it pivots
I suppose the t/o bearing could be hung up on the bearing retainer if the retainer were severly worn/grooved
Can you peer in thru the fork opening in the bellhousing and see anything abnormal ?

The clutch was operating flawlessly before the adjuster broke. That is what is making this so frustrating. It should have been a 15 minute fix! Does anyone know exactly how long the cable is suppose to be? Now that they are all tweaked, I cannot get an exact measurement to order a new one. Please help.

Sounds like the fork has slipped off the pivot and when you push on the pedal all the force is pulling the ball end off. Check the clutch fork is properly installed before pushing on the pedal again. It may be tough to look into the bellhousing to check things out but that what you need to do.

I don't know what length would have to do with it
the CJ V6 1 piece cables were all the same
from the Jeep book, the length given is 58 1/4"
